October 31, 2021 Reformation Sunday

When Martin Luther began the Reformation in 1517, he soon discovered that being a Reformer was life threatening. In 1520, his own Prince who supported him, had Luther "arrested" and confined to the Wartburg Castle in order to protect him from religious authorities who planned to burn him at the stake. Our lives do not usually have such dramatic threats, but we too need to find refuge. Psalm 46 inspired Luther's hymn, "A Mighty Fortress" that proclaims God to be our refuge and strength. Sunday, Pr Pierson's sermon will use Psalm 46 on how "God is Our Refuge."

Join us in person or on Zoom at 9am Sunday for hearing God's Word and offering prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to God. The Sunday Zoom link is on the Home Page to the right of the slide pictures.

At noon we will celebrate the Reformation and our life together with an Oktoberfest German Potluck. All are welcome.

October 24, 2021 The 22nd Sunday after Pentecost

In Thursday Bible Study we were just reading Isaiah 35:5-6: "Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; 6 then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy." In this Sunday's Holy Gospel Jesus restores sight to blind Bartimaeus. Pr Pierson will reflect with us on the topic "Can I See?"

Join us in person or on Zoom at 9am Sunday for hearing God's Word and offering prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to God. The Sunday Zoom link is on the Home Page to the right of the slide pictures.

October 17, 2021 The 21st Sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday's Gospel completes the story of the rich young man who went away sorrowful. In Mark 10:23-21 Jesus' worried disciples ask “Then who can be saved?” Jesus responds that “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Pr Pierson will be exploring how this possible impossibility revolves around Jesus.

Join us in person or on Zoom at 9am Sunday for hearing God's Word, receiving Holy Communion, and offering prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to God.

In our fellowship time we will be continuing the pastor appreciation theme. Come for special words and special refreshments.

Here is the link to the Service Folder and to the Announcements. After the Service it will also link to the recorded Service. The file name says 19th Sunday after Pentecost, but we're actually up to the 21st Sunday after, and the Service Folder itself has everything correctly.

October 10, 2021 The 20th Sunday after Pentecost

In the Holy Gospel for this Sunday a well-to-do man phrases his question to Jesus badly and gets a challenging and complicated answer! It's wonderful to read that "Jesus, looking at him, loved him, . . . ." In his sermon this week, Pr Pierson will be reminding us that there's "Always More With Jesus"  Mark 10:17-22

Join us in person or on Zoom at 9am Sunday for hearing God's Word and offering prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to God.

In our fellowship time we will be honoring Pr Rische for his long years of service at Mt Calvary. Come for special words and special refreshments.

October 3, 2021 The 19th Sunday after Pentecost

Our Old Testament and Gospel Lessons for this Sunday speak to us of marriage and family. The Gospel includes the beautiful story of Jesus welcoming children into His busy ministry over the protests of his disciples. Pr. Pierson's sermon is titled "Let Them Come!"

Join us in person or on Zoom at 9am Sunday for hearing God's Word and offering prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to God.

A brief special Voters meeting after Worship will take up the need for a new furnace in the Green House.

September 26, 2021 The 18th Sunday after Pentecost

September 19, 2021 The 17th Sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday we continue to be enriched by God's Word from the letter of James. In James 3:18 we read that "a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." Pr Pierson will lead us under the heading "Peacemaker--Sow What?"

Come join us in person or on Zoom at 9am Sunday for God's Word. We will also celebrate God's Holy Communion.

Here is the link to the Service Folder. After the Service it will also link to the recorded Service. You'll see the shorter Service Folder available also because it has the day's announcements and the longer Service Folder does not.
