God strengthens us Sunday by Sunday with His Word and the Means of Grace, including the Preaching of His Word and the Fellowship of Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

This Sunday we turn from reflection on our own sin, repentance, and forgiveness, to God’s Reconciling Mission to the world. The Holy Gospel is the familiar parable of the Prodigal Son which might better be called the parable of the Waiting Father. God waits with patience and love for His rebellious children to return. As the son is returning, the waiting Father earnestly anticipates his return. In Jesus words: “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him” (Luke 15:20).

The Holy Gospel will be read by Pr Robert Stevens. He is the Pastor we have Called to serve as our next full time Pastor. He and his wife Laura are visiting Mt Calvary and Estes Park this weekend.

This Sunday’s Epistle Lesson urges you and me to be Ambassadors for Christ’s Ministry of Reconciliation to those around us.

18All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us (2 Corinthians 5:18-20).

Fellowship will follow the Service as usual, and we will have an opportunity to welcome and become acquainted with Pr and Mrs. Stevens. We may omit our usual Bible Study at 10:30am in order to have more time with them.
